I've been doing BJJ for about seven months. My first gi was a Gameness Pearl weave. The Howard Single is my second. While I'm happy with the Gameness, I appreciate the Howard even more. I find that the Howard is a better fit for my build. I'm 5'5" tall and between 160-170 pounds with a wide chest and broad shoulders. Whereas the Gameness is a bit restrictive across the chest and under my arms the Howard gives me plenty of room in those areas. Also, the Gameness skirt is a bit long on me. The Howard kimono is much shorter and fits me just right. Before I purchased the Howard I read all the online reviews that complained all about the heaviness of the gi and the thickness of the fabric on the pants. To be honest, the kimono isn't all that much thicker than the Gameness pearl weave. The pants are a bit baggy, but again- I'm built like a fire hydrant so it works for me just fine. The collar on the Howard is much thicker and more rigid than the collar on my Gameness Pearl weave, so keep that in mind if it makes a difference to you. The last thing I'll say is that when I chose the Howard it was mostly because it was a reputable gi at a low price. I really didn't expect to like it as much as my Gameness which was more expensive (but still relatively affordable). I didn't expect it to be made as well as my Gameness, either. But I was more than pleasantly surprised. The Howard is great. I find it to be a great fit, extremely comfortable and looks to be quite durable. After about three months of use it still looks and feels almost new. Bottom line for me is this: the Gameness is nice, but the Howard just feels right on me and was about thirty bucks cheaper. From now on it's Howard for me. Taller or more slender body types might not have the same repsonse. But for us short, wide, muscled guys you should give the Howard single a try.
